The Edit: This is an honest Nutrafol Women review from Amanda, a retired Air Force veteran using Nutrafol for the hair shedding that came with her GLP-1 weight loss. Nutrafol is a hair growth supplement brand founded in 2016 in New York by Giorgos Tsetis, Roland Peralta, and Dr. Sophia Kogan, and majority owned by Unilever since 2022. Nutrafol Women is its formula for women 18 to 44. It’s four capsules a day, 120 capsules per bottle, and the current formula is biotin free. Nutrafol gifted me Nutrafol Women through ShopMy. My verdict so far: I recommend it, and I’m hopeful. Nutrafol promo: No code needed. The discount comes through my link: $40 off a 3 month subscription or $106 off a 6 month, plus a free hair serum ($69 value). Written for women on a GLP-1 who are watching their hair shed and want to know if Nutrafol is worth it.

Nutrafol gifted this through ShopMy. Our opinions are our own.
I lost about half my hair during my GLP-1 weight loss. Literally. You could see it on the floor, just tons of it, and it was scary. The shedding started while I was in Australia, and the whole story lives in my compounded tirzepatide post.
K18 sent me three months of FutureIQ, and the first week, the shedding stopped. That was a huge relief. Now I’m on my second bottle, and I still get periodic shedding. It happens fast over two or three days, then slows back down. I haven’t found a pattern yet. My full results are in my K18 FutureIQ review.
Still, I think there’s more to healing my body than a topical treatment. I want to get at the core of what’s going on. That’s why I added Nutrafol. I’d heard really good things, and there’s hype for a reason.
Nutrafol is a daily hair growth supplement. The idea behind it is that hair thinning has more than one cause, so the formula goes after several at once. Nutrafol names six: hormones, stress, lifestyle, metabolism, nutrition, and aging.
There are several lines for women and men, split by age and life stage. Women is for ages 18 to 44, which is the one I take. Women’s Balance is for 45 and up, through and after menopause. There’s also a Postpartum formula, plus Men and Men’s 50+.
According to my bottle, Nutrafol Women is meant to improve hair thickness, decrease shedding, and increase scalp coverage. It says it targets root causes of thinning, from stress hormones and nutrient absorption to cellular longevity pathways. Those are Nutrafol’s claims, not mine. I’m sharing what I notice as I go.
Nutrafol built this formula on its Synergen Complex Plant, and the current version is biotin free and 100% vegan, per its site. Here are the named ingredients and what Nutrafol says each one is for.
Sensoril ashwagandha is there for stress. Bacillus subtilis DE111 is for the gut microbiome. Meanwhile, Moldavian dragonshead is for cellular longevity pathways and the body’s own collagen. Pea sprout is for shedding, and bamboo silica is for strength. The formula also includes a tocotrienol complex, saw palmetto, and curcumin.
Nutrafol says the formula is free of gluten, dairy, soy, hormones, drugs, gelatin, and artificial colors and flavors. It’s also Non GMO tested. As for biotin, Nutrafol says it left it out because biotin alone doesn’t address all the triggers.
The older Women formula is still sold at some retailers. That version has marine collagen and biotin, and it contains fish. So if those matter to you, check the label on whatever you buy. Buying from Nutrafol.com gets you the current formula.
The packaging is nice. It’s a glass jar, so it’s kind of heavy. When you open the cap, mine says “keep growing.” That’s cute, because the whole thing is targeted at hair growth.
Then I saw the serving size. It’s four capsules, and they want you to take them all at once. My first thought was, are you kidding me? How are you supposed to do that? I also have commitment issues, so a whole month felt like a lot.
Luckily, a friend in the military taught me years ago that you can put all of them in your mouth and take one big gulp of water. It might be a psychological thing, but it works. So that’s what I do. All four go in, one quick drink, and it’s done. I take them at night before bed.
The capsules are green, and they have a weird taste. It’s the capsules themselves. It’s not my favorite, and it’s not crazy pleasant. But if you swallow them fast, it’s not too noticeable. And so far, there’s no after burp.
For comparison, I also take Ritual vitamins. I like Ritual because they have vanilla and mint ones, and I’m very sensitive to smells and tastes. Those flavors help me get them down. Nutrafol doesn’t have a flavor like that.
I started Nutrafol on October 2. Nutrafol says to give it three to six months and beyond for the best results. So this is an early report, not a final verdict.
As of now, my shedding is still pretty minimal. I also feel like my hair has a little more volume. That’s it so far, and I’m pretty hopeful about it. Other people have had really good results, and I want to see how much volume and growth I get back.
Here’s Nutrafol’s own timeline. In months one to three, shinier hair with less shedding and breakage. In months three to six, fullness and volume. From month six on, faster growing, thicker, stronger hair. In other words, a first month review can’t tell you much yet. I’ll update this post as I go.
I’m stacking a lot right now. I’m still using K18 FutureIQ, and I’ve upped my collagen with Agent Nateur, Ballerina Farm, and Taste Salud. So whatever happens with my hair, I won’t be able to split the credit between them. I’d rather tell you that up front.
Following my GLP-1 hair journey? My month by month photos and updates live in my K18 FutureIQ review, and the whole weight loss story is in my compounded tirzepatide post.
I have PCOS. So my big concern was that a hair growth supplement would grow more hair everywhere, including under my chin.
So far, that hasn’t happened. If anything, it seems to have slowed down. I don’t know why, and I’m not going to pretend I do. I’ll keep watching and report back.
So far, I haven’t had any after burp. Some reviewers report stomach upset, breakouts, or cycle changes. If I notice anything like that, it goes in this post.
Per Nutrafol, it’s not for anyone under 18, or anyone pregnant or trying to conceive. If you’re breastfeeding, Nutrafol points you to its Postpartum formula. If you have a medical condition or take medication, especially blood thinners, Nutrafol says to ask your doctor first. On a GLP-1 like me? Same advice. Check with your provider.
Nutrafol launched in 2016 in New York. Its legal name is Nutraceutical Wellness Inc.
All three founders dealt with thinning themselves. Giorgos Tsetis started thinning in his early 20s while working as a model, and he quit a prescription hair drug after years of side effects. Roland Peralta’s hair thinned while he recovered from thyroid cancer and rheumatoid arthritis. Dr. Sophia Kogan, M.D., shed and thinned through medical school and residency. She turned her medical training toward whole body hair research.
Unilever took a majority stake in 2022. Nutrafol sits in Unilever’s health and wellbeing unit, next to OLLY and Liquid I.V. Fun fact: K18 is a Unilever brand too. So both hair brands in my routine share a parent company.
Nutrafol calls itself the number one dermatologist recommended hair growth supplement brand, based on an IQVIA survey. It’s also NSF Certified for Sport and the Official Hair Growth Partner of Major League Baseball. Nutrafol says it has run more than 25 clinical studies, and it says more than 1.5 million customers use it.
Here’s the thing most people miss. There’s no Nutrafol promo code to type for this offer. The discount is built into my link.
First, click my Nutrafol link. Next, pick Nutrafol Women and choose the 3 month or 6 month subscription. You’ll see $40 off a 3 month subscription or $106 off a 6 month, plus a free hair serum ($69 value). Then check out. That’s it. No code box needed.
The offer is for new customers on Nutrafol.com subscriptions, one per customer. It can’t be combined with other offers, and the free serum comes with your first delivery while supplies last. It doesn’t work at other retailers. Verified active as of October 2026. It’s a limited time offer, and I’ll update this post when it changes.
You can buy Nutrafol at Nutrafol.com and at some retailers. Buying on Nutrafol.com through my link gets you three things.
You get the current formula. You get $40 off a 3 month subscription or $106 off a 6 month, plus a free hair serum ($69 value), which only works there. And only Nutrafol.com subscriptions qualify for the Real Growth Guarantee.
A monthly subscription costs less than a single bottle. The 3 month and 6 month subscriptions save more, which is where my link discount kicks in. Free shipping, and you can pause or cancel anytime, per Nutrafol.
Nutrafol offers results in six months or your money back. But read the terms. It’s for first time subscribers on Nutrafol.com, and you have to stay subscribed for six bottles, do check ins, and submit photos in the app on schedule. Retail purchases don’t qualify.
Not one you type in. Right now, the discount comes through my Nutrafol link: $40 off a 3 month subscription or $106 off a 6 month subscription, plus a free hair serum. Verified active as of October 2026.
Yes, in a way. It’s a link discount instead of a code. Click my link, choose the 3 or 6 month subscription, and the savings and free serum show up at checkout.
For me, it’s too early to say for sure. Nutrafol says three to six months. As of my first weeks, my shedding is still pretty minimal and my hair feels like it has a little more volume. I’ll update this post with photos.
I can only tell you my experience. I’m on a GLP-1, I lost about half my hair, and I added Nutrafol on top of K18 FutureIQ. So far, I’m hopeful. Nutrafol says to ask your doctor first if you take medication.
So far, yes, I recommend it. The four capsules a day are a big ask. Even so, the shedding is minimal and I feel a little more volume, so I’m sticking with it.
The capsules have a weird taste. It’s the capsules themselves. If you swallow them fast, it’s not too noticeable, and I haven’t had any after burp.
I put all four in my mouth and take one big gulp of water. A friend in the military taught me that. I take mine at night before bed.
Nutrafol says it’s free of drugs and hormones, but it also lists who should skip it: anyone under 18, pregnant or trying to conceive, or breastfeeding (use Postpartum instead). If you have a medical condition or take medication, ask your doctor first.
Dietary supplements aren’t approved by the FDA the way drugs are, and that includes Nutrafol. Nutrafol points to its own clinical studies and its NSF Certified for Sport status instead.
That was my biggest worry because I have PCOS. So far it hasn’t happened for me. In fact, it seems to have slowed down. That’s just my experience.
Not an official one that I could find. But my link discount works for anyone, and it comes from a military family. Click here for $40 off and a free serum.
Nutrafol.com and some retailers. The $40 off and free serum only work on Nutrafol.com through my link.
So far, yes, I recommend it. I’m on a GLP-1, I lost about half my hair, and I wanted something that gets at the core alongside my serum. In my first weeks, the shedding stayed minimal and my hair feels like it has a little more volume.
Nutrafol is sending me a second bottle, and I’ll keep taking it. I’ll update this review in a few months with more photos of how my hair is turning out. Until then, my monthly hair updates live in my K18 FutureIQ review, and my full GLP-1 story is in my compounded tirzepatide post.
If you want to try it with me, there’s no code to hunt for. My Nutrafol link takes $40 off a 3 month subscription or $106 off a 6 month, plus a free hair serum ($69 value). All my brand codes live on our discount codes page. Come back for the update, sign up for our newsletter below, or DM me on Instagram. I’m an open book.
