I dropped $200 on hydration packets and didn’t tell my husband.
Then I found the receipts while writing this post and realized it was actually closer to $425, split across their website, TikTok Shop, and a Target run for a flavor that had just launched. So let me start over.
I dropped $425 on hydration packets over a few months, told myself it was $200, and my husband is going to read this and find out at the same time you do. Hola Alex. 😅
Here’s the thing. I had been working on some pretty serious health goals (I started a GLP-1 in late December 2024 and have since lost 63 pounds), and nothing on the hydration shelf was landing for me. I tried the ones everyone on TikTok was drinking. I tried the ones at the grocery store and I tried the ones my friends swore by. Most of them tasted like someone dissolved a vitamin in water and called it a Saturday.
Then the algorithm did its thing and Taste Salud showed up on my For You page. And here’s the hook that got me… these weren’t chocolate peanut butter and tropical punch. These were aguas frescas. Horchata. Jamaica. Guava. The actual flavors I grew up drinking. 🫶🏼
When you’re trying to cut sugar and actually drink enough water to function, the hydration aisle is frustrating. And when you’re on a GLP-1, hydration matters even more because the medication can leave you parched in ways water alone doesn’t fix. Most mainstream options dump a full day of sugar into one packet. The “clean” ones taste like a chemistry set. I wanted something I could hand my kids, sip on a long travel day, and not spike my blood sugar.
Taste Salud has 1 gram of sugar per stick. Across the whole hydration line. Not one flavor more, not one flavor less. That part is consistent, and honestly kind of rare. Unlike Liquid IV, which has 11g of sugar, Salud keeps it at 1g, making it much better for our long travel days for us.
My first order was small. Horchata and Jamaica (their hibiscus flavor), plus the Guava because the girls love Jarritos sodas (IYKYK) and I had a feeling they would like them. At least I had hoped. The Horchata was too sweet for me on first sip. I’ll get to that later because it’s a whole thing. But the Jamaica? I didn’t grow up drinking jamaica as a kid, or at least not that I remember.
My parents divorced when I was in fifth grade, and I’ll be honest, I don’t remember a lot from before that except, you know… the trauma. But since 2020, we’ve been spending close to six months out of every year in and out of Mexico, and these flavors have become deeply familiar in a different way. As adults, sitting in Baja, buying cold jamaica from a roadside stand, that flavor became something I now crave. This packet tastes exactly like that. I was stunned. The Guava became Addy’s permanent personality trait, and I knew we needed more.
I went back on the website and saw that if you subscribed, the discount stacked nicely. I told myself I was just going to grab a few more. I did not grab a few more.
I ordered eight full-size bags. Pepino Limón, Fresa, Mango, Tamarindo, Guava (the Jarritos collab), Limonada, and the Calm + Sleep Ponche flavor. They got me on the “if you spend enough, you get free gifts” game, so I also ended up with a branded Tote Bag, a Sticker Pack, and a Mystery Carton. They threw in a free Piña (pineapple) sample on top of it. The order total was $244.89.
Then, a few weeks later, TikTok Shop showed me the Best Sellers Bundle on sale. I bought it. Then the Jamaica/Hibiscus standalone. Then the Paloma. Then the Watermelon Margarita. Then the Salud x Jarritos Guava again because we were already running low. That added another $181.
And then the Churro launched at Target in fall 2025 as part of Taste Salud’s Hispanic Heritage Month collection (with a portion of sales going to the Hispanic Heritage Foundation) so I picked that up in person because I couldn’t wait for shipping.
So yes. About $425 over a few months. Across the Salud website, TikTok Shop, and a Target run. The tote bag is a real tote bag that I actually carry (Audrey ended up carrying it on one of our excursions in Bora Bora, I have the photo). The sticker pack is on my laptop. The Mystery Carton turned out to be Piña. Nobody’s top pick, but not bad. Alex figured out the whole thing eventually. We’ll come back to him.
Taste Salud sent me a PR package in May 2026 of their new Skin + Beauty drink mix, which launched on May 18, 2026. This is the first time Salud has stepped outside of pure hydration and into “beauty from within” territory, and I have a very personal reason for being excited about it.
I’ve been on a GLP-1 since late December 2024, almost two years now, and I’m down 63 pounds. The transformation has been worth every needle, but there’s a side effect nobody talks about loudly enough. The hair loss. And I’m not being dramatic when I say I lost about half of my hair. Not shedding extra in the shower hair loss, real hair loss that I’ve watched in my ponytail thickness and my part line for months now.
So when this PR package showed up on my doorstep in May, the timing felt almost suspicious. A beauty drink mix designed for hair growth and skin support, landing in my hands the same season I’ve been Googling collagen for GLP-1 hair regrowth. We’re going to find out together if this works.
Here’s where this product earns my attention. A lot of beauty drinks throw a tiny scoop of biotin into a packet, slap a pink label on it, and call themselves a wellness brand. Salud went the patented-ingredient route, and the doses match the actual clinical studies these ingredients were tested at, not a token sprinkle.
Each 6 gram stick contains 2.5 grams of Verisol collagen peptides, which is the exact daily dose used in the clinical studies on skin elasticity and wrinkle reduction. Verisol is a beauty specific collagen made by Gelita, and it has been studied for wrinkle reduction starting around the 4 to 8 week mark with fuller results by 12 weeks. The packet also includes 160 mg of Lustriva, a patented blend of stabilized arginine silicate and magnesium biotinate that has been clinically shown to increase existing hair growth by nearly 20 percent in as little as 3 weeks. There’s 120 mg of hyaluronic acid for skin hydration, 90 mg of Vitamin C to support collagen formation, and 10,000 mcg of biotin (in the absorbable magnesium biotinate form, not the standard biotin you see on every drugstore shelf).
For my situation specifically, the Lustriva is the ingredient I’m watching. The 3 week claim feels bold, but it’s the patented ingredient’s actual clinical data, not Salud’s marketing. I’ve been drinking one packet a day. If it works for GLP-1 hair regrowth, this is going to be life changing for a lot of women in my boat. If it doesn’t, I’ll tell you that too.
The line launched with four flavors, each sold in 15 stick on-the-go pouches.
You know I don’t do influencer perfect reviews, so here are three things you need to know before ordering.
This line is not vegan. Salud’s core hydration and greens lines are plant-based, but Skin + Beauty uses bovine collagen because that’s where Verisol comes from. If you’re strictly vegetarian or vegan, this one isn’t for you.
It contains sucralose alongside organic cane sugar to keep the total sugar at 1 gram and calories at 20. If you actively avoid artificial sweeteners, that’s a dealbreaker. For me it’s a fair trade for keeping the sugar this low.
The biotin dose is significant, 10,000 mcg, or 33,333 percent of daily value. It’s well within safe limits, but high-dose biotin is famous for interfering with certain blood lab tests including thyroid panels and troponin tests. If you have bloodwork scheduled in the next few weeks, mention it to your doctor or pause the packets for a few days before your draw. This isn’t a Salud problem, this is a “how biotin works in lab assays” thing, and you’ll see it on any biotin supplement label.
The two flavors I’ve tried do have a slight collagen smell. It’s hardly noticeable when you’re drinking it, especially in the Fresa Kiwi flavor. If you’re going to try one, this is the one you should pick first. I feel like it’s slightly more noticeable in the Mango Passion Fruit flavor but is still enjoyable and worth it for the benefits Taste Salud says come from drinking these packets.
If you’re on a GLP-1, you already know the hair loss is real. I’ve been on mine for almost two years and lost 63 pounds, and the hair shedding hit somewhere around month three and never fully stopped. Most of us were told it was “temporary stress shedding from rapid weight loss,” and for some women it is. For others, like me, it’s been months of watching your hair thin in the mirror and feeling powerless about it. The clinical evidence on collagen and biotin for hair regrowth isn’t a guarantee, but Verisol and Lustriva are two of the most studied ingredients in this space, and Salud is putting them at clinical doses in a packet that doesn’t taste like a vitamin.
If you want to try it too, use code SALTYVAGABONDS at tastesalud.com for 10% off your order. My taste verdicts on Fresa Kiwi and Mango Maracuyá are in the flavor list above. 🫶🏼
Taste Salud sent us their Mexican Hot Chocolate Bundle the week it launched, and if you read my Churro and Horchata takes below, you know I walked into this one with opinions. It’s a limited edition flavor in the Hydration + Immunity line, so it has the same 1 gram of sugar, 10 calories, 400+ mg of electrolytes, elderberry, and Wellmune as the rest of the line. It’s also vegan, dairy free, and soy free.
Here’s the trick. Go light on the water, about 6 oz and no more than 8. If you add too much, it doesn’t taste right. I mix mine with about a tablespoon of cream, heat it up, and it tastes just like Mexican hot chocolate. You get that hint of cinnamon a real Mexican hot chocolate has, and the chocolate is there without being heavy.
It leans a little sweet, but nowhere near the Churro. Churro tastes like a churro, it’s just too sweet for me to enjoy. Mexican Hot Chocolate is mellower, and for something with 1 gram of sugar, it’s the perfect swap when you want a hot chocolate.
Audrey loves it. She had it hot first, then asked for it cold over ice. We topped that one with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon, and it was delicious. Since it’s part of the immunity line, it’s an easy one to hand your kids, and they just think they’re getting a treat.
It’s also great for a hot cocoa station. Set out hot water and the packets, stir, and everyone’s good to go. Alex kept trying to give our stash away to a friend, and I had to tell him to chill. This one is mine. It’s one of our family favorites now, and I recommend it.
The bundle comes with the Salud Signature Mug, which is only available in this bundle. Shop Taste Salud Mexican Hot Chocolate here and use code SALTYVAGABONDS for 10% off your order.
Taste Salud gave us a sneak peek at their biggest cultural collaboration yet. On Thursday, June 11, 2026, at 9 AM PT, they officially dropped a brand-new Hydration + Immunity flavor: Pepino Sandía (Cucumber Watermelon).
This flavor is a huge deal because Taste Salud is now the Official Hydration Partner of the Mexico National Team. They created Pepino Sandía in collaboration with El Tri just in time for this past summer’s massive international soccer tournament happening right here on home soil.
Like the rest of the core line, it features 400+ mg of electrolytes, 250 mg of Wellmune® for immunity support, and only 1 gram of sugar. Our bag made it to Oahu, and the verdict is in. Pepino Sandía is delicious. I loved it, but I’m a fan of both watermelon and cucumber, so if you are too, this one’s for you.
Note: Code SALTYVAGABONDS works on this flavor too for 10% off.
When you grow up Mexican American in a household where horchata came out of your mom’s pitcher and your grandma’s fridge, certain flavors mean something specific. They aren’t a throwback. They aren’t “nostalgic” in the way a brand tries to sell you nostalgia. They’re the actual drinks from your actual childhood.
And then when you spend close to six months out of every year in and out of Mexico as an adult, a whole new wave of flavors joins that same emotional territory. Jamaica from a roadside stand in Baja. Tamarindo at a taquería in La Paz. Paloma at a beach palapa in Todos Santos. These flavors became part of how our family lives now, not a memory of how I grew up.
Josh Leyva is Taste Salud’s founder. He grew up in Southern California, raised by an immigrant mother, and the brand is built around the drinks that shaped his childhood. He co-founded the company with Tyler McCann, a former athlete and beverage industry veteran who handles the operational side. They launched in June 2021 and have sold over 85 million sticks to date.
If you searched “who owns Taste Salud” or “Tyler McCann Taste Salud” and ended up here, that’s the answer. The Taste Salud Owner is a Mexican-American founder and his co-founder, based in LA.
Taste Salud’s marketing leans pretty athletic. Pre-workout, post-workout, recovery, gym bro energy. Which on paper seems like it wouldn’t land for a full-time traveling family with a worldschooling teenager and an eleven year old.
But here’s the thing. Alex cycles, hikes, spearfishes, and is our rated pilot (I have training and that’s how we met 😜). The girls swim in every ocean we pass through. We are, functionally, always recovering from something. So the gym bro framing actually maps pretty neatly onto our life. It just looks less like a squat rack and more like a dive fin.
Taste Salud is now the official hydration partner of the Mexican National Team. The bag has the México crest on one side and the Salud sugar skull on the other, and the flavor is Pepino Sandía, cucumber watermelon. We have it, and I finally got a few bottles of it to myself. It’s delicious, especially if you love watermelon and cucumber like I do.
What I can tell you is what it felt like to pull that bag out of the box. A Mexican American founder, a hydration brand, and El Tri on the same packet. For a family that spends half the year in Mexico, that’s the kind of collab that makes you want to root for a brand harder.
We have now tried nearly every flavor in the Hydration + Immunity line. Here’s how it shakes out across four very different palates.
Lemonade (Limonada) is my number one. It tastes like a real lemonade, tart and bright, without the syrup. I could drink this every day and never get bored. Pepino Limón (cucumber lime) is my number two. Clean, cooling, exactly what you want on a hot travel day. If you love a cucumber water moment, you will love this. Jamaica (Hibiscus) is my number three. Tastes exactly like the jamaica I drink from roadside stands in Baja. It’s the one that made me trust the brand.
Alex’s top three are Lemonade, Jamaica, and Paloma. The Paloma in particular is his whole personality at this point. If you mix it with club soda at happy hour he’s basically having an adult mocktail hour for free.
Alex has a new one on the list since I first wrote this. The Salud x Jarritos Mandarin. His words: nice and sweet, exactly what you’d expect if you’ve ever had a Jarritos Mandarin, and he’s now bringing it on hikes. The Jarritos collab has officially won over both the teenager and the husband.
Addison at 18 is a Guava loyalist. The Guava is part of the Salud x Jarritos collab line, which is fitting because Addy has Opinions about Jarritos. Her next picks are Jamaica and Sandía.
Audrey at 11 picks Mango, Lemonade, and Jamaica. The Mango has a candy-like brightness that kids lock onto instantly.
Here’s the thing I’d actually tell a friend who asked me what to order first. Start with Jamaica and Lemonade. Those are the two flavors that showed up in every single person’s top list across our household of four. If you’re buying for a family and you don’t know where to start, those two are the lowest risk, highest reward picks. Everything else is a preference call. Those two are a near guarantee.
If you lean citrus like I do, here’s the stack we keep on hand now. Limonada, Pepino Limón, Paloma, and the Jarritos Mandarin. Four flavors, all bright, none of them syrupy. The Mandarin is the sweetest of the four, the Pepino Limón is the cleanest, and the Paloma is the one that surprised us most. Alex doesn’t even like grapefruit and the Paloma is still in his top three, because the grapefruit is there without being overpowering.
This is where I get honest, because a review without honest is just a commercial.
I really wanted to love this one. And if you didn’t grow up drinking real horchata, I think you will. The flavor is recognizable. The packet makes a perfectly drinkable creamy cinnamon beverage.
But for me, raised by a mom and a grandma who made the real thing, it misses. It’s super close but it just doesn’t do it for me, or anyone in our household. Horchata is cinnamon forward. This one lands sweet forward with cinnamon as a backup singer. It’s close enough that it felt off, and that specific kind of close-but-not-quite is harder to drink than a flavor that’s obviously different.
If you’ve never had authentic horchata, order this one and enjoy. If you did grow up with the real thing, set your expectations a little lower. I feel like with how good lemonade is (it has a lemon peel hit that makes it taste so fresh), Horchata should have that fresh cinnamon hit too. I think that’s what my problem is with it.
Alex’s take, because he thought about this harder than I did. Real horchata is rice soaked in water with cinnamon, then blended and strained. Some people add star anise. What you end up with is a rice milk flavor profile, and that is a hard thing to put into a powder packet, because it isn’t a dried fruit or a citrus. He gives it a 3 out of 5 and thinks it could get there with less sweetness and a stronger cinnamon hit. I agree with him.
The Churro is flavor accurate. It tastes like a churro. That’s not the problem.
The problem is it’s the sweetest flavor in the lineup and I am not a sweet-drink person anymore. If you love a dessert drink, a creamy sweet cinnamon moment, this one is going to be your favorite. For my palate, it’s a once-in-a-while thing rather than a daily driver. Both of these I’d actually still recommend to the right person. They just aren’t me. Churro came back in September 2026, and my take hasn’t changed. If you want the cozy cinnamon moment with less sweetness, Mexican Hot Chocolate is the one I reach for.
A churro is crunchy on the outside, soft in the middle, and dipped in caramel or chocolate. That’s a dessert, not a drink. Alex’s point is that the packet nails the cinnamon sugar but has no way to give you the sauce or the texture, so it reads as sweet without the payoff. That’s a fair way to put it.
Since we boarded the Disney cruise in October 2025 out of Hawaii, our family has traveled through American Samoa, Fiji, New Caledonia, Australia, New Zealand, and French Polynesia. Six and a half months on the go as a family of four. In seven years of family travel, that kind of stretch almost always means at least one round of somebody going down. A cruise cold. An Australian flu thing. A sinus issue after a long flight. Somebody always gets hit.
This stretch has been different. I’m not going to tell you why. What I can tell you is that we were drinking a lot more water than we usually do on the go, because Taste Salud made the water taste like something the girls actually wanted. Audrey, who has literally never finished a dissolvable vitamin drink in her life, asks for Taste Salud by flavor name. Addison packed her own stash on the cruise. Alex has a whole Jamaica operation going that I did not know about until this week (more on that in a second).
The ritual changed. That’s the only thing I can honestly tell you shifted. Whether that mattered for how we felt across six months, I’ll let you decide.
Here’s what I found out today. Today. As I sit here writing this.
We left on that Disney cruise on October 3, 2025. Before we boarded, I gave Alex two bags of his own flavor picks. He told me he went through them. I took that at face value. We moved on with our lives.
In Australia, a few weeks later, we started running low. I told the girls they could only have one packet each per day. They complied like little hydration soldiers. I was stretching every last stick because I thought we were almost out.
Today is April 18, 2026. Six and a half months after that cruise. Alex casually mentions, while I’m writing this exact post, that he still has Jamaica packets left. Plural.
The gringo dependa strikes again. This man has been hoarding Hibiscus packets since October while his children and I were counting sticks in Sydney like we were surviving the apocalypse. Six months. Six whole months of silent rationing on his end while I was stressed about the supply. I don’t know what to do with this information. I might go find his stash and take a photo for this post.
This is the section I didn’t know I needed until the Disney cruise bar.
Because I was sticking to some health goals on the trip and didn’t want to pound sugary cocktails, I started bringing my Taste Salud packets to dinner with me. Our waiters (shout out to Pablo, who was from Mexico City and deeply homesick) would bring me club soda and I’d mix my own mocktails at the table. I had given him one of every flavor lined up by the end of the week. Pablo ended up trying the Jamaica the next night on his break and let us know he loved it and asked where he could buy some. He said it tasted just like home.
That exchange right there is why this brand matters to me. It made a homesick Mexican waiter feel like home on a cruise ship in the middle of the Pacific. I’m going to think about that forever.
Watermelon margarita at the cruise bar, made with Sandía + club soda. Zero tequila, no simple syrup, barely any sugar (one gram), cold, fizzy, pink. I ordered it at dinner, at the pool, on the balcony. The bartenders thought it was funny the first time and then they started bringing me club soda every night (it was a 2 week cruise).
The Paloma flavor plus club soda is even better. It tastes like a real Paloma without any of the alcohol or sugar. If you’ve ever wanted the brunch cocktail ritual without the next-morning consequence, this is the cheat code. Alex drinks this version at the pool now.
Taste Salud now sells a Salud x Tajín bundle, and it’s the thing I didn’t know the mocktail section was missing. You get three Tajín flavors, Paloma, Pepino Limón, and Mango, plus a mocktail kit with a wooden rim dish and a branded glass. You wet the rim, press it into the Tajín, pour the drink over ice, and suddenly the mocktail looks like the real thing at a beach bar in Baja.
A few honest notes on the kit. The glass is a standard highball, heavier than it looks. We’ve run it through the dishwasher a couple of times and the logo is still fresh, but I haven’t found care instructions, so check yours before you do the same. The rim dish is bamboo with the Salud emblem on it. We ended up with two kits, so one lives in the kitchen and one is coming on the road with us.
The bundle is $89 and saves you $45 over buying the three flavors on their own.
Alex here. I’ll keep this short because Amanda’s mocktail section is the real one. I’ve had Palomas in Mexico, the kind that come in the ceramic cup, and I liked them more than I expected to. So I made one at home with the Paloma hydration packet. Mix the packet, add a shot of tequila, add ice, stir. It tastes identical.
I haven’t seen anyone else review these packets this way, but if you’re going to make a drink anyway, you might as well have electrolytes in it. The Limonada with tequila or vodka works the same way as a spiked lemonade. You’re mixing it with water, which is basically what a seltzer is. Adults only, obviously.
Cocktails are rarely about the alcohol. They’re about the glass, the ritual, the little moment at the end of a day. Making a mocktail with a hydration packet lets you keep the ritual and drop the sugar spiral. On a two week cruise where drinks are everywhere and you’re in vacation mode, that mattered. I finished that cruise and walked straight into three months in Australia feeling like I’d had the vacation AND stayed on my goals.
The packets weigh essentially nothing. They’re individually sealed. TSA has never batted an eye. I keep ten in my carry-on and another stash in my checked bag. Three or four go in my personal item pouch for the flight itself.
Addy and Audrey are creatures of habit. Cold water in a Stanley or a reusable water bottle, one packet in, shake for fifteen seconds, drink. That’s it. No blender, no tools, no fuss. They like it over ice when we’re somewhere hot.
Audrey, my eleven year old, has refused every dissolvable vitamin drink on the market. Emergen-C, Airborne, the pharmacy brand tabs, all of them. She takes one sip, wrinkles her nose, and we’ve just lit money on fire. She will, however, drink Taste Salud. Cold water, packet in, shake, done. She asks for Mango and Jamaica specifically. For a parent of a picky kid, that alone is everything.
Alex here again, because I’m the one who drinks the most of this on the trail. Day to day I use one packet per 1.5 liter bottle. That’s lighter than the label says, so you get less flavor and a lighter dose, but it’s what I like for sitting at the desk.
On a hard day I go full strength. Last week I did a 4 mile hike with 2,600 feet of vertical. Three 1.5 liter bottles, one packet in each. Two Mandarin, one Paloma. I’ve been on bike rides where I didn’t bring enough hydration mix and cramped the whole way home. This time I didn’t cramp once. I drank one more when I got back.
For what it’s worth, I’ve run Liquid IV, LMNT, Nuun tablets, and DripDrop over the years. This is the one I actually reach for now.
Alex here with one more. We haven’t done this yet, but it’s on the list for this week. Mix a packet at full strength, pour it into popsicle molds, freeze. Mango, Paloma, Piña Colada, Mango Chili, and Jamaica all seem like they’d freeze well. One gram of sugar, electrolytes, and a popsicle the kids will actually eat on a hot day. If you try it before we do, tell us which flavor worked.
This review is focused on the Hydration + Immunity line because that’s what we travel with every day. But Taste Salud actually has six product lines total: Hydration + Immunity, Energy + Focus, Skin + Beauty, Muscle + Strength, Calm + Sleep, and Greens + Superfoods.
We’ve tried the Calm + Sleep in the Ponche (Punch) flavor and I want to be honest about it. The flavor doesn’t vibe with me personally, but Audrey loves it, Alex loves it, and the girls happily drink it. So this one’s a me thing, not a flavor miss. I’ve used it to help me fall asleep faster when we’re crossing time zones, and it’s been a real jet lag tool for our whole family. The girls have used it. Alex has used it. When you’re moving from New Zealand to Tahiti and going back in time your body has no idea what day it is, something that quietly helps you sleep on the new timezone’s schedule matters more than it tastes good.
Since then we’ve added the Prickly Pear flavor to the Calm + Sleep rotation. The girls drink both without complaint, and both have helped us fall asleep on the right schedule after a long travel day. This line is getting its own post.
Here’s where we are with the rest of the lineup. We’ve now had real time with most of it, so I’ll go through them one at a time and keep adding as we go.
Energy + Focus. Each stick has 200mg of organic caffeine, which is about two cups of coffee, plus B6, B12, and theanine to smooth out the jitters. Alex is the one who drank most of these, so this part is his. His morning looks like coffee first, then an Energy + Focus stick on top, then a long walk, and he says it keeps him going until the afternoon without the crash. Alex’s favorite is the Limonada de Durazno, the peach lemonade.
His trick is to stack it with a regular Limonada hydration packet in the same bottle, so the flavors match and he’s getting caffeine and electrolytes in one pour. He’s the first to admit he’s not sure you’re supposed to do that. We also got the Pitaya dragon fruit. Nobody in the family reached for it twice, so Alex finished the bag himself. His verdict was that it isn’t bad, it just isn’t the best, and when there are eleven other flavors in this line, that’s enough to not reorder it.
Muscle + Strength. This is Taste Salud’s creatine line, 5g of creatine per stick plus something called Senactiv for recovery. Here’s the honest part. Alex had never taken creatine before this. He’s always been a protein powder guy, and even with roommates in the Army who swore by it, he never bought it for himself. So there’s no other creatine brand to compare this to. Muscle + Strength launched August 17, 2026, and Taste Salud sent us the Uva grape, Jamaica, and Pepino. The grape is Alex’s pick of the three. It tastes like a grape Popsicle, or honestly like grape cough syrup, that same syrupy thing, and you still taste the creatine under it. He rates it a 2.5 out of 5 on flavor and calls himself indifferent. It isn’t in his rotation yet, and he forgot to take it before a 4 mile hike with 2,600 feet of climbing, which tells you where it sits in his lineup. His one request to the brand is simple. Put the Uva grape in the Hydration + Immunity line and he’d buy it. Jarritos makes a grape soda, so a collab wouldn’t be a stretch.
Amanda here. All three taste like their regular Hydration + Immunity flavors, but you can taste the creatine aftertaste in every one. It’s there. The immunity flavors taste amazing on their own. These have that extra note underneath. If you’re already looking for a creatine, these will probably taste amazing to you compared to what’s out there. I just don’t drink it that way.
Skin + Beauty. I covered this one in full up above, since it’s the line I’m personally testing for GLP-1 hair regrowth. Short version: Fresa Kiwi is the one to start with, Audrey claimed the Mango Maracuyá, and I’m drinking a packet a day.
Greens + Superfoods. Haven’t tried it yet. That one’s still on the list.

They’re on shelves at Target and Costco now, which is huge for accessibility. Target has the widest flavor selection in store, so if you want to try two or three before committing to an online order, that’s where I’d go. Costco right now is mostly stocking the Jamaica and Horchata combo, which honestly are two of the mass favorites anyway, so if those are your entry flavors you’re probably good trying it there.
Use my code SALTYVAGABONDS to get 10% off your order. You can stack it on top of the subscribe-and-save discount, which is exactly how I’d do it if I were you.
Full transparency moment that matters. I started drinking Taste Salud as a regular paying customer. I went looking for it and spent my own $425 before they ever knew my name. They’ve since sent me PR packages of new flavors and the new Skin + Beauty line, and I’m now an official creator with them, which means I earn a small commission when you shop through my link. Nothing about my take has changed. The Horchata still misses the cinnamon. The Churro is still too sweet for me. Jamaica and Lemonade are still the family starter pack. Thank you for supporting a Mexican-American family and a Mexican-American brand in the same click 💖
I already did. There’s another order on its way while I’m writing this. And yes, I’m going to hide some from Alex this time.
If you try Taste Salud because of this post, DM me on Instagram with your favorite flavor. I’m building a flavor rec thread for the Message in a Bottle newsletter and I want your takes.

Taste Salud’s newest flavor is Mexican Hot Chocolate, a limited edition Hydration + Immunity flavor that launched October 19, 2026. It has 1 gram of sugar, 10 calories, and 400+ mg of electrolytes per stick. Use code SALTYVAGABONDS for 10% off.
Use about 6 oz of hot water and no more than 8 oz, since too much water dilutes the flavor. For a richer cup, stir in about a tablespoon of cream. It also works cold over ice with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon.
Yes. Mexican Hot Chocolate is a limited edition flavor, sold on its own or in a bundle with the Salud Signature Mug, which is only available in that bundle.
Taste Salud Muscle + Strength launched August 17, 2026, with 5g of creatine monohydrate and 50mg of Senactiv per serving. In our testing, the flavors taste like the regular Hydration + Immunity line, but with a noticeable creatine aftertaste.
