This is our honest, long-term Beekman 1802 review after using the goat milk skincare brand since November 2021, including over a year and a half as a Kindness Krew ambassador. Beekman 1802 is the world’s largest goat milk based skincare company, founded in 2008 by Josh Kilmer-Purcell and Dr. Brent Ridge on a historic 1802 farm in Sharon Springs, New York, and majority-owned since 2021 by the investment group Eurazeo, which is funding global expansion (so no, it is not going out of business). The products we reach for again and again are the Milk Drops, the Milkshake, the Bloom Cream, and the Dream Booster, and our code SALTYVAGABONDS20 takes 20% off at beekman1802.com. I am not a one-box reviewer. I placed my first Beekman 1802 order on November 8, 2021, the half-ounce Bloom Cream and the Dream Booster, from QVC. I have been buying ever since, and on September 6, 2024 I became a Kindness Krew ambassador, which let me try almost the entire line across years of full-time travel.
I love most of this line, and I buy it with my own money between gifted boxes. It is gentle, it travels well, and the goat milk formulas have been kinder to my skin than the harsh actives I used to lean on. If you have sensitive or reactive skin, this is one of the easiest brands to recommend.
The Bloom Cream comes molded into a little flower, which is adorable, but I did not realize you are supposed to drop your Milk Drops right into the cream and swirl them together. That swirl is what activates it. Once I figured that out, I was hooked, and it is genuinely fun to use.
Honesty matters more than a perfect score. The shampoo and conditioner perform well, but the scent is too masculine for me, close to a strong eucalyptus that lingers in your hair all day, so I do not enjoy reaching for it (Alex does not mind it). A few of the treatment serums did not wow me with visible results. And while the lip balms are some of the best I have used, Primally Pure is still my number one there.
Beekman 1802 began in 2008 when Josh Kilmer-Purcell and Dr. Brent Ridge left New York City for a historic farm built in 1802 in Sharon Springs, New York. They inherited a herd of goats, started making goat milk soap at the kitchen table, and neighbors began reporting that it calmed eczema, rosacea, and sensitive skin. Today it is the world’s largest goat milk based skincare company. Goat milk naturally carries ceramides, probiotics, lactic acid, and omega fatty acids that help repair the skin barrier and balance the microbiome, which is exactly why it works so well on reactive skin.
The investment group Eurazeo took a majority stake in 2021 to fund the brand’s global expansion into markets like the UK, Australia, and Asia. The founders are still the face of the brand.
No. This rumor circulates because some department stores that once carried it have closed locations, but the brand itself is growing, hiring, and launching new lines. It is not closing.
You do not need the whole shelf. Here is what has earned a permanent spot, and what I would pass on.
The Oh! Mega Milk Drops are genuinely great, an instant reset that hydrates and balances without clogging pores. The Milkshake is one of my all-time favorites, and the scents are half the joy. My picks are the orange honey blossom, the newer peach lychee, and the vanilla. These two are best sellers because they earn it.
My original Beekman love and still a daily staple. Drop your serums into a bit of it, swirl, and go. For building a full gentle routine around it for hormonal and acne-prone skin, see our Beekman 1802 PCOS skincare guide.
This is the one serum where I noticed a real, visible difference. It is a gentle natural alternative to retinol that targets dark spots and texture without leaving skin raw. Check it out here.
All of them are good. Alex has drier, rougher skin and reaches for these constantly. The scents lean a little more masculine, which is part of why he loves them.
Both Beekman sunscreens we have tested have been excellent, and I have not been sunburned in them. We break down exactly where each one fits, and how it compares to reef safe options for ocean days, in our best sunscreen for travel guide.
Really good, and a personal favorite. I did once have a reaction to their Dewy Eyed eye cream, told the brand, and they immediately apologized and sent me a mushroom milk eye cream for free. More on why that matters below.
Two experiences turned me into a direct buyer. When I reacted to their Dewy Eyed eye cream, they apologized at once and replaced it for free with the mushroom version I love. Another time a shipment reached us cold in Colorado and half the box had leaked, so they asked what was damaged and resent the whole round. On top of that, you can chat with their skincare specialists right on the website, and they will help you figure out which products actually fit your skin. That kind of care is rare, and it is a big reason I shop direct.
Go to beekman1802.com, build your cart, and enter SALTYVAGABONDS20 at checkout for 20% off. Direct is the only place the code works, it carries the full lineup, and it comes with the customer service above.
Beekman is also at Ulta, on QVC and HSN, and in some boutiques. At Target you will only find it inside stores that have an Ulta Beauty shop. It is not sold at Walmart. The discount code does not apply at any of these retailers, so shop direct when the discount matters.
Yes. Military families can find it at AAFES Exchange and NEX stores, usually tax-free, though the in-store selection is limited compared to the website. If you want the full line and the 20% off, the website is still the way to go. We cover more military shopping perks in our Disney cruise packing list and across our military travel guides.
Yes, Beekman 1802 is cruelty-free. The formulas are built around goat milk and are pH balanced, and the products we use are free of harsh alcohols and heavy synthetic fragrance. It is a gentle, clean-leaning line designed with sensitive skin and the skin microbiome in mind.
Yes. After years of personal use, it is one of the gentlest, most reliable goat milk skincare lines we have tried, with standout customer service.
The brand is rooted at its historic farm in Sharon Springs, New York, where the whole goat milk story began.
No, it is growing and expanding globally under majority owner Eurazeo.
Yes, at AAFES Exchange and NEX, with a limited selection.
Yes. The lineup changes every year and it is a fun, lower-cost way to sample the range. We grab it most years.
No. Try the website, Ulta, QVC and HSN, or on base.
I already do, on repeat, and so do the friends and family we have recommended it to (Alex’s aunt turned out to be using it at the same time we were, which gave us a good laugh). After more than four years, Beekman 1802 is the goat milk skincare we keep restocking. If you are curious, start with the Milk Drops or the Milkshake, use SALTYVAGABONDS20 for 20% off at beekman1802.com, check out our store front, and build from there.
