The Edit: This is an honest TELETIES review from Amanda, a full time traveling mom who tested the products for a few weeks alongside her daughter. TELETIES gifted four items through ShopMy: the Tortoise Large Hair Ties (three per pack, sized for thick to super thick hair), the Mossy Moments Mix Pack Hair Ties (five per pack, three small and two large, in olive and sage green), the Boar Bristle Hair Brush in Teal With It and the Mini Boar Bristle Hair Brush in Mulberry. The spiral hair ties are waterproof and designed to be worn on the wrist like a bracelet when not in use. Both brushes are made with 60 percent nylon and 40 percent natural boar bristles, with a built in mirror and storage compartment on the back, a coil handle, and a removable cleaner at the base.
The verdict: the hair ties did not snag, the brushes get used daily, and Amanda has already repurchased from TELETIES on her own. Written for anyone who wants a hair tie that looks like jewelry and a boar bristle brush that costs a fraction of the salon brands.

TELETIES gifted these through ShopMy. Our opinions are our own.
TELETIES sent over a big lookbook on ShopMy and let me choose. Naturally, I went straight for the hair ties first. These are more fashionable than a regular elastic. You can slide one on your wrist and it looks cute, like a bracelet, not like a hair tie you forgot about. I picked the Tortoise Large Hair Ties and the Mossy Moments mix pack because I love that faded, glassy look they have.
For the brushes, I had heard really good things about boar bristles. There are much more expensive brushes out there with boar bristles in them, and the TELETIES version is a fraction of the cost. So I picked the full size Boar Bristle Hair Brush in teal for me and the mini in mulberry for Audrey.
This was my first worry. After all, look at the coils and you’d assume they’d grab your hair on the way out. They don’t. After a few weeks of daily use, I haven’t had one snag.
They’re springy. First, they stretch out when you wrap them, then they shrink back to their original shape. That part surprised me, because most stretchy hair ties stay stretched. So far these keep bouncing back. I’ve also noticed they give my ponytail more lift. If you have thinner hair, that extra lift is a real plus.
This is why I like them so much. For example, you take one out of your hair and it’s on your hand, and it reads as a fashion piece instead of a plain black band. They’re fun and they’re pretty. The tortoise ones especially look like a real accessory, too.
Audrey really likes them too. In fact, she hands me these now whenever she wants her hair put up. That tells you everything about how an 11 year old feels about a hair tie.
I got the big teal one for myself and the mini mulberry one for Audrey. In practice, Audrey uses the big one more now. Still, the brushes are really nice and they have a good grip on the handle.
First, the back of the brush has a casing. Then pop it open and there’s a mirror inside, and you can tuck your hair ties in there too. I certainly did not expect that from a brush at this price.
Second, the bottom of the handle twists out and there’s a small comb. You use it to scrape the hair out of the bristles. It’s a small detail, but as a result it means the brush stays clean without a separate tool.
Of course, the pricier salon brushes use boar bristles for the same reason TELETIES does. If you’ve been curious about trying one without spending a lot, this is an easy way in. You can also grab the boar bristle brush on Amazon if that’s where you shop. I also think they make very good Christmas gifts, birthday gifts, or stocking stuffers.
Honestly, not much. If I’m nitpicking, these are more plastic based than a fabric scrunchie or a cloth elastic, so if you only want natural materials these aren’t that. For us, that’s actually the point. We constantly live at the beach, so these are perfect for beach days, being in the water, and the pool. There’s no cloth to stay soggy and no metal on them, so you don’t have to worry about rusting or them falling apart. The quality overall is just better than a regular elastic, and TELETIES has far more fashionable options than any plain band I’ve found. I like them, I think they’re nice, and so does Audrey.
Likewise, my other small note is that the mini brush was meant for Audrey, and she’s gravitated to the full size one instead. So if you’re buying for a kid, you might skip the mini and just get the big one.
A few weeks in, I placed my own order. I went back for two more packs of large hair ties, the Silver Slay Large Hair Ties and the Luxury Living Large Hair Ties, plus the Mini Boar Bristle Hair Brush in Tortoise. I also grabbed two of the Holiday Hair Tie Ornament they’re doing this year. It’s really cute, and it’s the kind of thing that works as a stocking stuffer without any extra wrapping.
In short, I already did. A few weeks in, I placed my own order, including the holiday ornament they’re doing this year. For a full time traveling mom who needs a hair tie on her wrist most of the day, these solved the “ugly black elastic” problem and kept my hair from snagging. The brushes get used every day in our house, mostly by Audrey.
If you’re building out your hair tool lineup, my Mane Ivy post covers the rollers and round brush I use alongside these. And every code we have is on the discount codes page.
Finally, shop the full lineup at TELETIES.
In my experience, yes. My concern was that the coil shape would get stuck in my hair, and after a few weeks of daily use it hasn’t happened once. They stretch out and spring back.
I think so. After all, I liked the gifted ones enough to place my own order a few weeks later. The hair ties look like a bracelet on your wrist, and the boar bristle brush costs a fraction of the salon brands.
I buy directly from TELETIES. The exact items I tested are linked in the table above. The boar bristle brush is also on Amazon.
I use the large, which TELETIES sizes for thick to super thick hair. The mix pack gives you three small and two large, so you can try both.
Yes. The back of the brush pops open to a mirror with room to store a couple of hair ties. The bottom of the handle twists out to a small comb for cleaning the bristles.
We don’t have a TELETIES code right now. If that changes, it will show up on our discount codes page.
Not one of ours at the moment. Check the codes page for the current list.
I haven’t found an official one. Hair ties and brushes make easy gifts for anyone in your unit, so this is still a good stocking stuffer pick.
