The Edit: Primally Pure is a clean skincare and body care brand founded by Bethany McDaniel. It started at her family’s Primal Pastures farm stand in Southern California, and every product is made in Temecula, California. This PR unboxing covers three Primally Pure products gifted through ShopMy. The Antioxidant Balm comes in 1 oz and 2 oz. It’s made with grass fed tallow, astaxanthin, cacay nut oil, hibiscus oil and plum kernel oil, and it goes on as the last step, morning or night. The Plumping Serum comes in .5 oz and 1 oz. It contains astaxanthin, green coffee oil, pomegranate seed oil and bakuchiol. The Jade Gua Sha Stone is a green jade facial tool with divots, a smooth edge and ridges. The post also covers four Primally Pure products bought and rebought with our own money. The Blue Tansy Body Oil is a 2 oz body oil with argan, pomegranate seed and blue tansy oils. The brand lists it for pre and post sun exposure. The Natural Lip Balm comes in Cocoa, Peppermint, Lavender, Creamsicle and Grapefruit, and every flavor except Cocoa contains grass fed tallow. The Vanilla + Citrus Deodorant comes in 1.7 oz and 2.5 oz and contains baking soda, arrowroot, tallow and zinc oxide. The Natural Dry Shampoo for Dark Locks is a powder made with organic cocoa powder, organic arrowroot and kaolin clay for brunette hair. Everything is sold direct at Primally Pure.

Primally Pure gifted these through ShopMy. All thoughts and first impressions are my own.
I’ll be real with you, I was ecstatic when this box showed up. Primally Pure has been one of my favorite brands since we were living in Washington, back around 2018. I’ve been quietly rebuying their stuff for years, and I’m not even sure they know that! At one point, I switched over completely to Primally Pure for most of my skincare. I love that it’s clean, organic and free of harsh chemicals. So getting three products I hadn’t tried yet felt like a little gift from an old friend.
The Antioxidant Balm is a rich balm made with grass fed tallow and oils like cacay nut, hibiscus and plum kernel. Primally Pure says to use it as the last step in your routine, morning or night. You can layer it over a mist or serum, or use it on its own on your face or body.
Here’s how I’m using it. On the nights I use retinol, I put the Antioxidant Balm on the next morning, so I’m not stressing my skin too much. So far, it’s working. Heads up, it gives your skin a slightly darker tint when it goes on, which I think comes from the orange color of the balm. It also has an earthy scent from essential oils like frankincense, lavender and helichrysum. It’s not the best smell, but it’s not a deal breaker for me.
The Plumping Serum is a lightweight face oil. It’s built around astaxanthin, green coffee oil, castor oil and pomegranate seed oil, with bakuchiol and rosehip oil mixed in. The brand says to press one to two pumps into your face, neck and chest after toning. At night, you follow it with a cream.
The Jade Gua Sha Stone rounds out the box. It’s made from green jade and has a different edge for every part of your face. The divots hug your jaw and brow, the smooth edge works your cheeks and neck, and the ridges cover the rest. Primally Pure says to apply a serum or cream first so it glides. Then you gently pull the stone across your skin instead of pushing it.
Gua sha is new to me, so I’m still figuring out how it’ll work on my face. I’m hopeful, though, since Primally Pure says it supports lymphatic drainage.
This Blue Tansy Body Oil is amazing, and here’s why. Whenever we’ve had a little too much sun, we put it on that night. What we’ve noticed is that the next day, we usually don’t burn, and our skin doesn’t peel. It works for us about 9 out of 10 times. There’s always that one off chance it still happens, but most days it saves us.
I’ve rebought it more than once, and I always decant it for travel. The glass bottle is just too heavy to haul around. It’s a 2 oz oil made with argan, pomegranate seed and blue tansy oils. For the best absorption, Primally Pure says to apply it to damp skin after a shower.
Our whole family is obsessed with lip balm, and this is the one we always come back to. I usually grab the Natural Lip Balm 5 pack, and I’ve rebought it more times than I can count. Creamsicle is one of our favorites, and Peppermint is so good too. It comes in five flavors: Cocoa, Peppermint, Lavender, Creamsicle and Grapefruit.
It’s made with grass fed tallow, coconut oil, beeswax, cocoa butter and mango butter. That’s why it actually stays on. Alex has dealt with rough lips before, and this is his favorite. We’ve tried Beekman 1802, Burt’s Bees, ChapStick and pretty much everything at the drugstore. Nothing beats this one. It’s our number one lip balm, and we tell everyone to try it.
I’ve tried every single one of their deodorants, in every scent, including Vanilla + Citrus. For a long time, they were my favorite clean deodorant. My one issue is that about halfway through the stick, it starts getting sticky toward the bottom. That makes the end of the stick a little less pleasant to use.
It also darkens my underarms a bit. I suspected the baking soda, and sure enough, it’s on the ingredient list. Because of that, the girls have moved on from it. These days, it’s my number three, behind Agent Nateur and Salt Air, and I switch between those two. Alex still uses Primally Pure, though.
The Natural Dry Shampoo for Dark Locks was my very first Primally Pure product. When it came out, it was the first brown dry shampoo powder I’d ever seen. Every other powder back then was white. That worked fine on blonde or light brown hair, but on dark brown hair it left a white cast.
It’s made with organic cocoa powder, organic arrowroot, kaolin clay and baking soda, plus pink grapefruit, lavender and peppermint essential oils. These days, K18 is my number one dry shampoo. Still, Primally Pure comes in a close second, and I keep it on hand. It’s a great clean dry shampoo.
I’m on a skincare journey right now to clear up my blemishes and dark spots. So I’ll be watching whether the Antioxidant Balm helps with my dark spots over time. With the gua sha, I’m curious to see how it actually feels and works on my face once I get the hang of it. Overall, I love Primally Pure, so I’m excited to keep using all three. In my book, they’re some of the best out there.
I’ll keep using the Antioxidant Balm, Plumping Serum and gua sha stone, and I’ll update this post with a full review once I’ve really put them to the test.
