The Packaging and First Impressions

The packaging is beautiful. The melts come in a slim metal tin that looks like a mint tin, and that’s the point. Nothing about it reads dispensary or smoke shop. The brand talks about discreet packaging, and it is. You could leave it on a hotel nightstand and nobody would think twice.

The tin itself is the first I’ve seen like this. You press both sides to pop it open, which is a fun little detail. It’s recyclable, there’s no plastic, and inside there’s a little silicone insert you can pull out and reuse for whatever small thing you end up needing it for. If you’re trying to cut plastic out of your routine, this one gets close to zero.

How It Smells

I’m sensitive to smells, so this matters to me. There is no hemp or weed smell when you open the tin. None. It’s a clean open.

How It Tastes

This is where Mary & Jane pulls ahead of everything else we’ve tried in this category. It’s one of the best edibles I’ve ever had. You can barely taste any THC, and none of the earthy, planty aftertaste most edibles leave behind. If you’ve had gummies that taste like a lawn, you know why that matters.

The closest comparison is those powdery candies that melt in your mouth, the SweeTarts kind, except softer and a lighter melt. You let it dissolve, you get the light passion fruit flavor, and then it’s over. There’s a soft, slightly powdery finish like those candies leave, and that’s it. The flavor isn’t strong and it doesn’t overpower anything. You’re not chewing through a gummy or chasing it with water. You just let it go.

If you want to taste your wellness (some people do), this isn’t that. If you want the product to feel like a candy and hide everything else, this is your melt.

How They Look

Open the tin and you wouldn’t blink twice. The Sunny melts are a soft peachy cream color, small and round and mint-like. Nothing about them screams what they are.

Sunny is the daytime tin, labeled “for good times.” Each melt contains hemp derived Delta-9 THC and kanna, a botanical the brand uses across its lineup. It comes in two strengths, a 1mg melt and a 2.5mg Super Sunny melt, so you pick your starting point. The label says to place one under the tongue and add one at a time from there. You can dissolve it under your tongue or just let it melt however you like.

What Works

What Doesn’t Work as Well

They’re more like mints than gummies, which means they’re more sensitive. If the tin rumbles around in a bag for a while, the melts chip and start turning to powder. So while they’re easy to drop in a purse for dinner, they’re better kept at home than living in a bag full time. Mary & Jane is designed for a specific kind of person. If you’ve tried edibles and hated the taste, this is the one that fixes that. If you’re cautious about THC and want the smallest, most controllable dose available, this is a fun entry point into the category. Adults looking for a low key wind-down at home instead of a glass of wine are the core audience.

It’s not for everyone though. Anyone traveling internationally should skip this entirely because regulations vary too widely to risk it. If you’re looking for a stronger effect from a single serving, this isn’t built for that. And if you tend to forget what’s in your bag when passing through security, don’t pack it.

Would I Travel With This?

Domestically, the melts are hemp derived and under 0.3% THC per the label. They’re easy to pack, they slip into a purse, and you could take one to dinner. Check the brand’s site for their current guidance on where they ship and where you can carry them.

The practical issue is the format. Like any mint, they don’t love being jostled. A tin that’s been bouncing around in a bag all week is going to have powder in the bottom. So for us, these live at home, not in the carry-on.

Internationally? Absolutely not. Cannabis laws vary by country, and even hemp derived products with trace THC can be treated very seriously in some places. We travel too often to risk a bag search in the wrong country. If you’re forgetful about what’s in your bag, skip packing it entirely. Not worth the mental overhead.

Would We Buy Again?

Honest answer: yes. I came in as a picky adult who doesn’t love most THC products, and these won me over on the two things I care about most, no earthy taste and a dose I control. The mint direction is smart and the tin is a bonus.

If we were going to buy another Mary & Jane product, it would be Exhale. It’s their newest melt, pitched as the unwind you’ve been waiting for, with 2.5mg per melt and lemon balm in the formula. It’s lemon flavored, and given how light and clean the passion fruit is, I’d expect that to be really good. Unwinding at the end of the day is exactly what I’d want one of these for, so that’s the tin I’d order next.

Simple Sunny is the other one I’m curious about. It’s the kanna only version with no THC, which would be an easy way to try the brand if you want the melt experience without any THC at all.

Mary & Jane also sent the Dreamy melts in Tart Cherry, which I haven’t tried yet. It’s the nighttime tin, with 1mg of THC plus 5mg of CBN, magnesium, and reishi. I have trouble staying asleep, so I’ll update this post once I’ve spent a few nights with it.
