The Edit: Is Rodan + Fields worth it? Yes, in my experience, especially the Redefine Intensive Renewing Serum, which I liked enough to reorder with my own money. This is an honest Rodan + Fields review from Amanda, a retired Air Force veteran and mom who has traveled full time with her family since 2018. Rodan + Fields is a dermatologist-founded skincare brand started by Dr. Katie Rodan and Dr. Kathy Fields, the creators of Proactiv, launched in 2002 and headquartered in San Francisco. Rodan + Fields is no longer an MLM: the company ended its multi-level selling model on September 1, 2024, and now sells direct at rodanandfields.com and in Ulta Beauty stores. Rodan + Fields gifted the Redefine 30-Day Regimen for Fine Lines and Wrinkles, the Redefine Multi-Function Eye Cream, the Redefine Intensive Renewing Serum with Retinal-MD, and the Active Hydration Serum, all linked below. After more than a month of daily use, the Redefine kit is a simple, carry-on friendly way into the line, and every product is under 2.2 fl oz. The Rodan + Fields promo code is AMANDAV25 for 25% off at rodanandfields.com, verified active as of October 2026. Written for anyone who wants a real skincare routine that fits in a quart bag and doesn’t take twelve steps.

Verified active offer: code AMANDAV25 takes 25% off at rodanandfields.com. It applies to the full-size Redefine products and the 30-Day Regimen. It does not work at Ulta. You’ll find this code and all of our others on the Salty Vagabonds discount codes page.
Skincare and full-time travel don’t naturally get along. Most routines assume a bathroom counter, a consistent water supply, and bottles that don’t have to clear TSA. Mine assumes a quart-size bag and a different sink every few weeks. So when a brand says “30-day regimen,” the question I’m asking isn’t whether it works. It’s whether it survives a carry-on.
That’s the lens for this whole review. If you’re planning a trip and wondering what skincare to pack, or you’re just tired of routines with nine products, this one is for you.
I’d already received a Rodan + Fields gifting through ShopMy and liked it enough to buy sets for my daughters. Then the PR box showed up, and I have to tell you about it. It was built like an airport security bin, complete with a little passport tucked inside. Honestly, it was the first PR package I’ve ever gotten that felt like someone had actually looked at what we do. The skincare came packed in personalized Cadence capsules, which is funny because our own personalized packing cubes are how we keep this family organized on the road.
A second box arrived a couple of months later with the two serums. I’ve now been using the full lineup daily for over a month.

Rodan + Fields was founded by Dr. Katie Rodan and Dr. Kathy Fields, two Stanford-trained dermatologists who had already created Proactiv. They launched the Rodan + Fields line in 2002, originally in department stores, and are headquartered in San Francisco. In 2007 they bought the brand back, and in 2008 relaunched it through independent consultants.
That consultant model is what most people think of when they hear the name. In July 2024 the company announced it was leaving multi-level selling, and the change took effect on September 1, 2024. Consultants became affiliates paid only on their own product sales, with no recruiting involved. Then in March 2025 the brand entered retail for the first time with an exclusive Ulta Beauty partnership, in about 150 stores and on Ulta.com.
The founders still lead the company. Private equity firm TPG Capital, which has also backed e.l.f. and Beautycounter, took a minority stake in 2018. Rodan + Fields calls itself the number one female dermatologist-founded skincare brand in the United States, and the Redefine regimen has clinical study numbers behind it, including the “91% noticed firmer skin” claim printed on the box. I’ll say what I noticed in my own skin further down. Those numbers are the brand’s, not mine.
The Redefine 30-Day Regimen for Fine Lines and Wrinkles is four products that cover morning and night. The Daily Clay Cleanser (2.2 fl oz), the Pore Refining Toner (2 fl oz), the Triple Defense Cream SPF 30 (0.5 fl oz), and the Overnight Restorative Cream (0.5 fl oz). Every bottle clears the liquids rule, which is why this kit lives in my carry-on instead of a checked bag.
The Daily Clay Cleanser is kaolin clay, and the label says it works as a cleanser or as a two-minute mask. I use it both ways. As a cleanser it’s gentle and not stripping. As a mask, I leave it on while I brush my teeth, rinse, and move on. It’s an easy way to feel like you did something extra on a travel day without packing a separate product.
The Triple Defense Cream is a peptide moisturizer with broad spectrum SPF 30 built in. This is the piece that surprised me. It goes on clear with zero white cast, which for a daily face sunscreen is rare in my experience. It’s medium weight and sinks in fast. I can put makeup over it without pilling. If you’ve ever skipped sunscreen because it made you look chalky, this fixes that.
The Overnight Restorative Cream is the richer of the two. It’s a thin, creamy consistency that feels more hydrating than it looks in the jar. My skin feels soft in the morning. That’s the honest sensory report.
The box says 30 days. I’ve been using it daily for more than a month and I’m still not through the first kit. The eye cream from the first PR box is also still going. So you’re getting more than the name suggests, which matters when you’re deciding if the price is worth it.
Let me be careful here, because I’m using other products alongside this regimen and I’m not going to pretend one kit did everything. What I’ve personally noticed over the past month: my skin tone looks more even, my face feels more supple, and fine lines look softer. Some of that suppleness is simply what happens when you start moisturizing consistently. I’d say that about any skincare.
What I can say with more confidence is that nothing in this regimen irritated me, dried me out, or made me reach for a calming serum afterward. That’s not true of everything I’ve tried. And on the question everyone asks, skincare takes time. Nobody gets an overnight fix. If someone online is promising you one, that’s the sign to keep scrolling.
The Redefine Intensive Renewing Serum is the product in this lineup I liked enough to reorder with my own money. It comes as little blue capsules. You pinch the tip, squeeze the serum out, and smooth it over your face and neck at night.
This is the retinoid in the lineup. The label lists Retinal-MD, which is the brand’s name for retinal, a form of vitamin A that’s one step closer to the active form than regular retinol. Rodan + Fields wraps it in what they call a Calcium Buffering System, which the label says is there to minimize irritation. It also has peptides. The brand positions it as the highest potency vitamin A you can get without a prescription, and it’s meant for nighttime use.
Pumps are a gamble. You get half a pump one night, a weird squirt the next, and you lose product. With the capsule, you get the exact dose every time, and there’s nothing to leak in a toiletry bag. For travel that’s a real advantage, not a gimmick.
The texture is the other reason I keep using it. It’s silky and soft going on, and my face still feels that way the next morning. I haven’t experienced any extra redness or dryness with it, which is what I’d normally brace for with a retinoid. If you’ve been nervous about trying one, this is a gentle place to start.
The Redefine Multi-Function Eye Cream came in the first PR box, and I’m still using the same tube. It’s a small jar, so it’s easy to pack, and a little goes a long way. I don’t have a dramatic story here. It’s a nice eye cream that has lasted a long time, and that’s about all I’d claim.
Every review I write names a real reservation, and mine is the Active Hydration Serum. It’s a hyaluronic acid serum built on what the brand calls a 3D3P Molecular Matrix, 30% glycerin plus cross-linked hyaluronic acid. On paper that’s a good formula. In practice it’s a cloudy, creamy-looking hyaluronic acid serum that performs like other hyaluronic acid serums I’ve used. I didn’t notice anything that set it apart.
That’s not a knock. If you want to stay inside one brand’s system, it’s a perfectly good hydrating step. I just wouldn’t buy it on its own when the Intensive Renewing Serum is the one that earned a reorder. My other hesitation was the scent across the regimen. There is a light fragrance you’ll notice while applying. It fades quickly and never bothered me, but if you’re sensitive to any scent at all, know that going in.
I moved forward anyway because the core four products do what they say, they pack well, and the SPF cream alone solved a problem I’ve had for years. That’s enough.

Copy the code AMANDAV25. Go to rodanandfields.com. Add the Redefine 30-Day Regimen, the Intensive Renewing Serum, or whatever you’re trying to your cart. At checkout, paste the code into the discount box and you’ll see 25% off applied. Verified active as of October 2026.
The best place is rodanandfields.com, because that’s the only place the code works. Since March 2025 the brand is also carried in about 150 Ulta Beauty stores and on Ulta.com, which is handy if you want to see the products in person first. The code doesn’t apply at Ulta.
Rodan + Fields is sending Lash Boost next, and I’ll update this post once I’ve used it long enough to say something useful. I’ve been trying a different lash serum for about a month without consistent results, so I’m curious whether this one is different. That section is coming.
If you want a complete AM and PM routine that fits in a carry-on and doesn’t require a dozen products, I think so. The 30-Day Regimen lasted me longer than 30 days, which helps the math, and the Intensive Renewing Serum is good enough that I bought it again.
Yes. Use AMANDAV25 at rodanandfields.com for 25% off. It’s verified active as of October 2026 and doesn’t work at Ulta.

Not anymore. The company left its multi-level direct selling model on September 1, 2024. Consultants became affiliates paid only on product sales, with no recruiting. Since March 2025 the line is also sold at Ulta Beauty.
Yes. The brand is founder-led, headquartered in San Francisco, sells direct at rodanandfields.com, and expanded into Ulta Beauty stores in 2025.
In my experience, yes. I’ve used the Redefine regimen daily for over a month, my skin feels more supple and looks more even, and nothing in it irritated me.
What I personally noticed: softer-looking fine lines, more even tone, and skin that feels supple. Those are my observations, not promises, and I use other products too. Skincare takes time.
It’s a broad spectrum SPF 30 that goes on clear with no white cast, which is what I care about. Check the current label on the site for the active ingredients.
It uses retinal, not retinol. The label lists Retinal-MD, a form of vitamin A, wrapped in a calcium buffering system meant to reduce irritation. It’s for nighttime use.
No. The Redefine products have a light scent you’ll notice while applying. It fades fast and I’m fine with it, but scent-sensitive people should know.
I haven’t used it yet. It’s on the way, and I’ll update this post with an honest answer once I’ve used it long enough to tell.
I couldn’t find an official one. The code AMANDAV25 comes from our veteran-owned blog and works for everyone, military or not.
Directly at rodanandfields.com, where the code works, or at select Ulta Beauty stores and Ulta.com.
Very. Every product in the 30-Day Regimen is 2.2 fl oz or smaller, and the serum capsules can’t leak. The whole routine fits in a quart bag.
Yes. I already did, with the Intensive Renewing Serum. As a mom who has lived out of a carry-on since 2018, what I needed was a routine that clears TSA, covers morning and night, and doesn’t make me look chalky under sunscreen. The Redefine regimen does all three, and the kit stretched well past its 30-day name.
I’ll update this post once Lash Boost has had a fair run. Until then, if you’ve been curious about the line but put off by the old sales model, this is a good moment to try it. Grab the Redefine 30-Day Regimen, use code AMANDAV25 for 25% off, and if you want to compare notes, read our Agent Nateur review for the other line that travels with us. Every code we have lives on the discount codes page.
