When your teen turns 17, it calls for a celebration as fabulous as they are! Addison’s Mamma Mia-themed “Young and Sweet Only 17” birthday party was nothing short of a blast. From cozy accommodations to fun-filled adventures, it was a weekend to remember, and I’m sharing all the details—including links to everything we used to bring this theme to life.
Where We Stayed: Hyatt House Scottsdale North 🏨
We rented two spacious rooms at the Hyatt House Scottsdale North, the perfect home base for a weekend of fun. This spot was ideal because it’s conveniently located across from a movie theater and near fast food options—teen dream, right? The rooms had plenty of space for decorating and hanging out, and the included breakfast was a hit with the girls.
Party Prep: Mamma Mia Decor, Snacks, and Goodie Bags
The first night was all about transforming the rooms into a dreamy Mamma Mia haven. Addison’s friends traveled from Colorado and a nearby city to join her, making it even more special. We stocked up on snacks and drinks from Whole Foods, which made planning a breeze.
Decor Must-Haves:
T-shirts for signing: A fun keepsake!
Canon Ivy Printer: This pocket-sized photo printer let the girls print photos from their phones to add to their scrapbooks. It was such a hit that I’ll link it below for you.
Goodie Bags: Filled with spa-inspired treats like face masks, nail polish, and mini lotions—because self-care is a vibe.
Day One Fun: Movies, Crafts, and More 🎬
The girls kicked off the weekend with a trip to the movie theater across the street (perfectly convenient), then headed back to their decked-out room. Between making custom scrapbooks with photos from the Ivy printer and signing t-shirts, they had so much fun creating memories to take home.
Day Two Adventures: Castles N’ Coasters 🎢
After enjoying a hearty hotel breakfast, we drove to Castles N’ Coasters in Phoenix. I got the girls unlimited ride passes, which also included an hour of arcade time and unlimited mini golf. From thrilling coasters to some friendly putting competition, they had a blast!
Dinner and a Mamma Mia Movie Night 🍕
After the theme park fun, we grabbed pizza to-go from Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria (a must-try if you’re in the area) and headed back to the hotel for a cozy movie night. The girls ate pizza, scrapbooked with their Ivy printer, and watched Mamma Mia!—a perfect nod to the theme.
Then, we brought out Addison’s birthday cake—a Berry Chantilly Cake from Whole Foods that I ordered online and picked up in-store. It was absolutely delicious and fit the vibe perfectly.
The Final Day: Breakfast and Relaxation 🌞
The next morning, the girls enjoyed breakfast at the hotel and spent the day relaxing and making the most of their time together. It was the perfect wrap-up to a fun-filled weekend.
