We were in Grenada for a long-term house sit that ended early and stumbled upon this resort a few days before departure. True Blue Bay Boutique Resort offers a small discount and seemed more accommodating for a family than other resorts that include Sandals Grenada or the Six Senses La Sagesse. We’re glad we tried this resort out. The resort was conveniently located within a 10-minute drive to just about everything we needed.

True Blue Rooms

The guest room selection is of great variety at the resort. Unlike other resorts in the area, which seem to cater more to families with small children, True Blue Bay Boutique Resort offers a variety of accommodations suitable for all kinds of travelers. We chose to stay here because it is family-friendly and perfect for young children.

Waterfront Suites

We booked a waterfront suite situated right on the water’s edge. The room offered a stunning view of the blue waters and a panoramic view of True Blue Bay. The master bedroom featured a king-size bed.

The en-suite bathroom was spacious, featuring a large shower and a wall-mounted hair dryer. During the dry season, they might limit shower times as the Caribbean typically experiences a drought from November to June.

Having a fully equipped kitchen was a pleasant surprise and would be very helpful for making small bites and meals, especially if you’re staying for a longer period of time than we did.

True Blue Bay Boutique Resort Reviews and Amenity Specifications  

• Free Wi-Fi Speed: The WiFi speed averaged 20-30 Mbps, which was more than sufficient for getting a thousand photos uploaded without any issues. 
• Early Check-in & Baggage Holding Available: We used the luggage storage service, and they stored our bags in the front desk staff office directly behind the front desk. This service gets a solid 5 out of 5 stars from us.
• Wall Sockets for Charging: Since Grenada was a British colony, the rooms have a mix of two-prong round Euro plugs, G-type British plugs, and USB-A outlets. Definitely bring a G-type British plug adapter.
• Bed, Sheets, and Furniture Comfort Level: The king beds were soft, comfy, and super plush, providing us with a great night’s sleep. The sheets were soft and had a pleasant scent. The comfortable furnishings enhanced the room’s ambiance, earning it a 5 out of 5 stars, especially with the thoughtful addition of decorative flowers.
• Water Pressure & Water Temp: The water pressure was good, and the water temperature was consistently nice and hot. True Blue Bay is a climate-smart boutique hotel, so water usage is metered and regulated. I give it 5 out of 5 stars for its conservation efforts while still providing excellent amenities.
• Shuttle Service: Unfortunately, there is no shuttle service to Maurice Bishop International Airport from the resort. However, they do offer Grenada’s First Solar-Powered Beach Shuttle for guests.
• Customer Service: The service we received was excellent, with friendly staff embodying the laid-back Caribbean charm that shines at this resort.
• Bell & Maid service: We only stayed for 2 nights, but the cleaning staff were polite and very helpful when we asked for extra pillows. I’d give them 5 out of 5 stars.
• Customer Complaint Resolution Experience:We noticed a slight overcharge after our stay. After sending an email, we were promptly refunded. I’d rate their response 5 out of 5 stars.

Things to See at True Blue Bay Boutique Resort

Pools Freshwater & Saltwater

They have a total of four pools, each with its own unique characteristics and vibe. The pool closest to your room might not be where you expect. For us, the nearest pool was just up a set of stairs, across the pathway from our room door.

• Beach Pool: The main pool area features both a freshwater pool and a saltwater pool. The freshwater Beach Pool has a water slide and a beach entry, plus plenty of lounge chairs and a man-made sand beach for you to enjoy.
• Cocoa Pod Pool: The nearby Cocoa pod pool which is a saltwater pool offers a relaxing atmosphere for those who prefer swimming in salt water. It’s conveniently located right next to the beach pool and the Rum Shop.
• Lap Pool: The final pool is nestled between the tower suites and the cocoa pod suites. It feels like a private plunge pool, tucked away among the buildings, giving it a hidden and secluded vibe.
• Bayview Pool: The Bayview pool is located just behind the honeymoon suite, accessible by crossing a private bridge. It has plenty of lounging areas, including colorful Adirondack chairs, making it a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the view.

The Rum Shop Bar

Don’t forget to visit the rum shop for a cocktail or mocktail to enjoy while at the pools. Grenada produces lots of rum, so be sure to try some of the locally made varieties—they’re known for their good flavor and smoothness.

Kids’ Playgrounds

Just before entering the Dodgy Dock restaurant, you’ll see the playgrounds on your left. This area is designed for kids aged 12 and under, featuring a couple of slides and various toys for them to enjoy.

The Arawak Museum

Grenada was originally founded by Arawak-speaking Amerindian people from South America. They’ve left their mark on the island, and you can see their pottery on display. 

Some pieces are hundreds to thousands of years old, with some weathered by the elements and others depicting fish, turtles, and frogs. Discovering these ancient artifacts was unexpected and elevated my travel experience by connecting me with Grenada’s rich history.

The Tropical Gardens at True Blue Bay Resort 

The resort is enveloped in a lush tropical jungle atmosphere. Everywhere you look, there are Coconut palms by the pools, Plumeria trees, and Bougainvillea flowers, creating a vibrant tropical paradise vibe.

Mexican Consulate

We’ve traveled to many places, and while looking at this small building, I noticed the Mexican eagle with the snake and read the wording. I wondered to myself, “Is that really a Mexican consulate?”

This is the first time I’ve seen a consulate located near a resort or hotel. If you’re a Mexican national needing consular services, they can assist you right here.

If your family is looking for a new country scuba experience in a different country, this place has it all. They offer a great scuba instructor and two boats to take you to Grenada’s thirty reefs.

Free Water Sport Activities  While Vacationing at True Blue Resort

Kayaking, sailing Hobie Cats, and paddle boarding are included with your stay at True Blue Bay. Knowing this beforehand would have been great. If you’re looking for some fun activities, you don’t need to go far. The resort offers two Hobie Cats for rides in the bay. For guided experiences in other water sports, just ask the concierge or front desk—they’ll take care of everything.

Sankalpa Yoga Studio and The Fitness Center

The yoga studio and gym are conveniently located together across from the front desk’s loading area. The Sankalpa Ocean View Yoga Studio, situated above the gym, boasts stunning views of the bay. They offer yoga classes nearly every day—don’t forget to check the schedule!

The Fitness Center

This gym is impressively equipped, especially for a hotel/resort. They not only have a rowing machine (a rarity in these settings) but also a Peloton stationary bike—the only place I’ve seen a Peloton outside of a personal residence.

The gym focuses more on free weights rather than bulky weight machines typically found in gyms. Despite its small size, who really comes on vacation to work out anyway?

Blue Haven Spa

The spa offers an extensive range of services, including massages, soaks, and facials. It boasts one of the longest massage menus we’ve encountered, featuring specialties like Reflexology Massage.

Dodgy Dock Restaurant

The restaurant is open for both lunch and dinner, offering two menus with a variety of dishes. You can find Grenadian-inspired options like conch, as well as Mexican-inspired dishes such as Baja tacos.

We kicked off our visit by indulging in a few signature smoothies that featured Grenadian rum. The cocktails, especially the All Night and the Mai Tai, were not only delicious but also visually appealing.

Included Breakfast Buffet

For breakfast the resort offers a buffet of food to select from. They have a drink station, fruit and bread station, and offer an assortment of breakfast items that change daily.

House of Chocolate Bakery 

The bakery is easy to find, located just after you turn and see the sign on the road. They offer a variety of baked goods and even ice cream.

Secret Harbour Grenada Restaurant

While on a grocery run, we stopped by for brunch. The meal offered a huge amount of food for a reasonable price, with plenty of items to choose from. 

We were craving some good bacon, extra crispy hash browns, and eggs. We also ordered fresh fruit and fried plantains. The banana bread was particularly delicious, thanks to a hefty amount of nutmeg in the recipe.

The Best Time to Visit & Things to Know About Visiting True Blue Bay Boutique Resort

Grenada is a great destination to visit year-round. Hurricanes rarely venture this far south, with only four hurricanes hitting the island in the past 150 years.

We visited the resort at the tail end of the dry season, so they had water conservation practices in place. This will have no effect on our decision to visit again at all.

Since it was the end of the dry season, the landscape was quite brown and less visually appealing, but it also meant the atmosphere was dry and not muggy or swampy.

We called the front desk staff and they had a luggage scale for guests to use. It helped us redistribute our weight to avoid overweight baggage fees. Very helpful!

They have a marina and own 12 mooring balls in the bay. As a tenant of the marina, you’ll have access to the pools, bathrooms, and other amenities.

Do they have a beach?

They have a beach, but it isn’t like the picturesque Grand Anse Beach. Instead, it’s a mangrove beach with darker sand.
