About us
Saltyvagabonds
If you’re like me, you’re always on the hunt for family-friendly getaways that blends relaxation, adventure, and memorable moments. Our recent escapade to the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort & Spa in the heart of New Mexico was nothing short of enchanting. From the beautiful landscape to the cozy smoores, let me walk you through our delightful family retreat.
Arrival and First Impressions
Nestled amid the breathtaking Sandia Mountains and the iconic Rio Grande, the Hyatt Regency Tamaya greeted us with its pueblo-style architecture and warm hospitality. Our kiddos were instantly captivated by the ambiance, and I knew we were in for something special. The front desk checkin went smoothly with a bellman there to help unload bags and take them directly to our room.
Family-Focused Accommodations
Settling into our room, the spacious layout incorporated southwestern-inspired decor. There was water in the fridge and our room over looked the pool area.
Adventures Abound
The resort’s sprawling grounds are a playground for the young and young-at-heart. The resort has so much to do – from horseback riding to guided nature hikes. They even had bicycles to rent with helmets for everyone. The resort’s Adventure Center, offered everything from clay pottery to storytelling sessions under the starlit skies. And s’mores by the fire pit were so much fun.
Poolside Paradise
No family getaway is complete without some pool time, and the Hyatt Regency Tamaya took it up a notch. We didn’t get to check out the water slides but we did enjoy a swim in the pool.

Culinary Delights
With kids, food is always an adventure of its own. The resort’s culinary offerings were pretty good!
?If you’re new to New Mexico and you like Jalapeño Margaritas, definitely try their Green Chili Margarita. It’s really Yummy!!
The resort also has a coffee shop where they serve Starbucks! I got a pumpkin Spice latte ☺️
Until Next Time, Tamaya
Our departure was bittersweet, but the magic of our time at Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort & Spa was great and we can’t wait to return. From the turquoise skies to the rich cultural experiences, New Mexico’s charm paired with the resort’s hospitality gave us a family retreat that will always be remembered.
