The water parks and slides are definitely grouped into 4 main areas. These three areas are Bikini Bottom Beach, Paw Patrol Adventure Bay and the Activity Pool, and the last area is the water slide tower called Soak Summit.
@saltyvagabonds Here’s the full review of our Nickelodeon Resort Riviera Maya Experience in Cancun Mexico! Pro Tip: if you’re wanting to visit Aqua Nick & not stay at the Nickelodeon Resort then you can get a day pass. Many places offer them (resort pass, trip advisor, viator, get your guide, etc) but the best deals I have seen are with booking it direct through “Lomas Travel”. I included the prices in the video for comparison. ✨How to get discounted stay at Nickelodeon Resort Riviera Maya: If you are planning a trip to cancun but Nickelodeon Resort is out of your price point, the hotel nextdoor: Generations Riviera Maya Resort (owned by the same people who own the Nickelodeon Resort) also includes access to aqua nick and they’re significantly more affordable to stay at. If you have any questions about staying at the Nickelodeon Resort in Riviera Maya Mexico ask in the comments and I’ll do my best to answer. Our blog post with the full review is up on our website! To get to Bikini Bottom Beach you pass under the lazy river with its glass see-through floor and sides, make sure to pick up towels before exiting the Rotonda area. You’ll be greeted with Bikini Bottom Beach and SpongeBob SquarePants at the top of the stairs!
Take a mental note of where this pool is because, at 1:30 pm daily, there’s a countdown with music and dancing for everyone. Be prepared for the super sliming event! If you’re in the pool closest to the Nickelodeon blimp, this is where the slime comes out in a 360-degree pattern.
The first lazy river goes all around the Aqua Nick water park! It wraps around in a circle and has tons of different things like sprinklers, bridges, and different statues of Nickelodeon characters to get selfies with! The second is a bit smaller and wraps around the slides and adventure pool.
The Paw Patrol water playground has water cannons and six smaller water slides for your little ones to enjoy with their favorite Paw Patrol friends. Right next to this area is a kiddie pool for younger guests, featuring Blue the puppy from Blue’s Clues.
Audrey loved this area and Bikini Bottom Beach the most. The slides weren’t scary, and there was a tipping bucket for a fun surprise.
The Activity Pool area kept me and the kids busy. Trying to climb the slightly slanted climbing wall was much harder than it looked. Despite having climbed over 700-foot tall rock faces multiple times, I was quickly defeated.
The wave ball is a big orange ball at the far end of the pool. When the ball moves up and down, it creates 2-4 foot waves, making it a great experience for both adults and kids.
The kids tackled the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cargo net training course, with and without the lily pads, multiple times while we were there. None of us managed to get across without falling into the pool. Let us know below if you’ve made it across!
Unfortunately, I was the only one who tried the large water slides. There are so many slides on this one, and it’s the big feature you see from the road.
The Soak Summit Tower includes:
There is a height requirement for some of the Soak Summit Tower slides, with a minimum height of 4 feet (1.2 meters) for guests of all ages. The slides were all fun and a great way to enjoy the park for hours, providing unforgettable experiences.
There are tons of activities for the kids to enjoy. The Bikini Bottom Beach area features the most amazing multi-level play structures I’ve ever seen. With so many water jets and themed sculptures, we ended up spending almost all of our first day here because the kid-friendly offerings were just so great.
If you’re in this water park area, make a mental note that the park will do an announcement with dancing and singing from the cast members at 1:30 pm for the super sliming event. Nickelodeon’s website states that the super sliming is “every day at 3:00 pm,” but we found this to not exactly be true.
If you book a private sliming event, it will take place next to the super sliming event area at different times. You can arrange this in the hotel lobby if you’re staying at one of the Loma Group Resorts Riviera Maya.
On the way into the park, we were pleasantly surprised to see a character meeting line. The girls got to have a photo op with three of their favorite paw patrol friends, as well as Tommy and Chuckie from the Rugrats.
The Aqua Nick waterpark caters to all age groups. For younger children, the park offers a kiddie pool and the Paw Patrol Adventure Bay.
HjFor older kids and adults, there are more thrilling options like Bikini Bottom Beach and the Activity Pool. Don’t forget to check out the two huge lazy rivers, especially the one where you can wave at people entering the water park through the Rotonda.
Visiting Aqua Nick lit a spark of play inside all of us that day. Getting to see all the characters and reminisce about old Nickelodeon cartoons made for a fun-packed vacation. It was the perfect spot to relax and enjoy ourselves for the day after a long travel season in Asia.
The Aqua Bite spots offer a variety of foods, each with its own selection. You can find pizza, hamburgers, hot dogs, and poke bowls. Look for the Spongebob Squarepants statue holding a giant ice cream cone, and that’s where you’ll find the ice cream! The pizza is pretty decent for an amusement park; it’s not quite as good as Tokyo Disney’s, but it’s close.
Nick Bistro is the best place to eat in the park. They offer a huge buffet with lots of family-friendly food selections. We tried a variety of dishes, including seafood and three kinds of ceviche. Everything tasted great and looked amazing. This is most definitely the spot to eat while you’re at the park! They’re open from 12:00 PM to 4:30 PM.
We found two bars and premium drink stations in the park! One bar was right next to the main pool, officially known as Bikini Bottom Beach, but often referred to as the Nickelodeon blimp pool. This location is not depicted on the Nickelodeon Hotels and Resorts Map. They offered a variety of drinks, including soft drinks, beer, margaritas, and rum and coke.
The other bar was right by the activity pool. They served smoothies and frosted drinks for the kids, had a full bar with mixed drinks, and a soda fountain on the side.
When you book a room at Hotel Nickelodeon Riviera Maya, you get free access to the Aqua Nick Water Park. We arrived a few hours before check-in and were allowed to enjoy the themed water park even though our room wasn’t ready yet! You can read our review on the Nickelodeon Rivera Maya Hotel here.
The park is open from 10 am to 6 pm, but the Nickelodeon resort website mentions “Unlimited Early Access to Aqua Nick & Nickelodeon Place” for guests. We didn’t get to try this, so we’re not sure when early access starts.
When you enter the park, look out for the big green dinosaur. As you pass the Main Stage area, remember that they do a show here every night at 8 pm. This is part of the Plaza Orange Entertainment Venue and includes Club Nick.
There are lots of things included with your day pass if you bought the all-inclusive tickets. Here’s what’s included:
If you’re part of the Exclusive Traveler Club, you can access the members-only area located near the Activity pool. It’s surrounded by lush tropical gardens, offering a more serene lounging experience.
Lomas Travel owns and operates the water park and the resort, and they offer the following packages:
At first glance, the Lomas website seems to offer more affordable tickets with options to fit your needs. We didn’t buy tickets this way because we stayed at the resort, which cost a bit more, totaling $1,288 USD. The resort stay includes shows and many extra amenities for the kids. You can read our resort review here.
Resort Pass offers two options for entry to the park. Both options provide basic entry from 10 am to 5 pm. The Day Pass doesn’t include food or drinks, while the All-Inclusive Day Pass includes unlimited access to Aqua Bites and the Nick Bistro Restaurant.
Day Pass
All-Inclusive Day Pass
The Resort Pass costs more but offers the same amenities. However, it stands out for its cancellation policy, which is detailed below:
You can cancel your booking online for a full refund back to your original payment method or for ResortPass Credit to use another time. Bookings can be cancelled online up until the following times:
Day Passes can be cancelled by 10:00am EST the day before your reservation date.”
If you’re unsure about going to the water park and want some security for getting your money back, this is the best option based on our experience.
All of the staff is really friendly and are nice, including the friendly cast members you spend all day with in the park. The vibe is great, and knowing some spanish is great but not really a major requirment.
Aqua Nick offers a shuttle service to the water park from many hotels for an additional cost, and I’ve linked the form here. You can add the number of adults and kids in your party to calculate the transportation cost, which is $20 USD per person.
It’s best to rent a vehicle from one of the major rental car agencies for a 24-hour period rather than paying for taxis and shuttles. The cheapest rental car company we’ve found is America Rental Car. We rented a car for a month for under $300 USD, which comes out to about $10 a day.
To rent a car in Mexico, all you need is your driver’s license, passport, and a credit card. If you have collision and rental car insurance on your credit card, let them know. They will place a larger hold on your card but won’t charge you the daily insurance premium for collision coverage.
Aqua Nick is located on the Caribbean side of Mexico, in the Yucatan, in a small town called Puerto Morelos. This town is south of the major city Cancun and north of Playa del Carmen and Tulum.
Many airlines fly to the three major airports in Quintana Roo, click here for our review of the top 3 BEST airlines to fly when traveling to Mexico. Sometimes the Cancun airport is the cheapest, but other times Playa del Carmen and Tulum might offer better deals. Once you arrive in the Yucatan and settle into your accommodation — whether it’s an Airbnb, resort, or long-term rental — getting around is really easy.
Carretera Cancún – Tulum Km. 45 Riviera Maya Q.R Estado de México MX, Supermanzana Riviera Maya, 77710 Cancun, Q.R., Mexico
While we were at the park, we noticed that all the food spots (Aqua Bite) and premium drink stations close around 5 pm. So, the last call for food and drinks is around 4:30 pm.
Enjoy the Paw Patrol Adventure Bay water park area until 5:30 pm. They turn off the water here and at other pool areas around this time, but they leave the Bikini Bottom Beach (main pool) on until closing time.
During the private slime event, they changed the camera settings and turned off live photos on one of our devices. Make sure your phone settings won’t be changed, or tell the slime associates not to adjust them.
Before you go, familiarize yourself with the water park. It can be a little overwhelming on the day of your visit. The staff is helpful, but knowing the layout in advance will save you time and help you find all 500 meters of adventure and lazy rivers without needing to wait for assistance.

As U.S. SIM card holders we were not able to download the app. I also tried VPNing, then coming off VPN to use their local WIFI and nothing worked. We also tried multiple phones. Hopefully this gets fixed soon, so if it doesn’t work we provided a PDF download of the Map for your use.
Otherwise from my understanding the App is very nice to use and will give you times with locations of the character meet ups and any activities that may be of interest for you to join. I included the QR codes for both Apple and Android for you to download the Nickelodeon Resort App ahead of time.
You can purchase from resort pass here or from Lomas Travel here. And you can purchase at the box office in front of the water park.
That is going to varry greatly spending on how many adults and children are in your party. Its also going to vary depending on the drinks and food package you purchase.
Getting a taxi is really easy, but be prepared to spend a good amount of money. In Tulum, taxis charge about $15 USD to go around 3 miles, and the rates can vary depending on where you are in the Yucatan. We don’t recommend this option, but sometimes it’s the easiest and most convenient.
You absolutely should visit the water park. If you and your family love Nickelodeon like we do, it’s a win-win situation. There is so much to do, with something for every age group. There’s a smooth, gentle lazy river and small rides for the little kids. For teens and adults seeking adrenaline rushes, there are huge water slides.
