Looking for a family-friendly hotel in La Paz? Check out our review of Hyatt Place La Paz for insights on room types, amenities, and nearby dining options. Come and enjoy the pool and beautiful sunsets!
During our time in La Paz Mexico, we stayed at the Hyatt Place more than a few times. We’ve tried many of the different amenities and room types in the hotel, as well as found some fun things to do in and around the hotel!
The Hyatt Place is a newer property established in 2014. It boasts immaculate maintenance and a fresh appearance. Serving as a reliable hub for our logistical needs, we’ve returned to this convenient location approximately 5 to 7 times, particularly to facilitate our travel needs.
At Hyatt Place, the accommodations cater to both immediate and extended family members. You and your family can choose from spacious 1-bedroom king suites with a sofa sleeper or standard rooms featuring 2 queen beds.
Our family particularly enjoys the king suite with a balcony, offering a large outdoor space complete with chairs, a table for games or breakfast, and some plush loungers for sunbathing. Or just hanging out in the sunshine!
For those opting for the queen suite, it has a slightly smaller balcony that still provides a picturesque view of the pool, bay waters, and stunning sunsets over the marina.
(3.5 out of 5 stars) for the free WiFi, it does seem to get slower as the hotel gets more crowded and as more people arrive. The WiFi speed also seems to go back up and get quicker around check-out time.
We have not used this service any time we stayed at this hotel because we had our own vehicle and our boat in the Costa Baja marina.
Mexico uses the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) NEMA 5-15 grounded (Type B) plug. It has the standard 3-prong plug like in the USA. If you and your family are traveling from the USA you will NOT need an adapter, but all other countries that are from Europe or Asia will likely need adapters.
(4 out of 5 stars) This Hyatt features the Hyatt Grand Bed™ and provides a great night’s sleep. The sheets and pillows match the comfort and quality level of the mattress. The pull-out sofa bed they have isn’t too bad either, but we recommend asking for multiple extra blankets as the ones they provide are very thin.
The pool in the Hyatt place is pretty small, but still a good spot to hang out with your family. You can also order food and drinks at the pool.
(3.5 out of 5 stars) They could make the warm water slightly hotter. The water temperature is ideal, ensuring that young children won’t get burned if they accidentally turn the knobs too far. It’s set at a safe level and can’t be turned past it.
The Hyatt Palace does not have a shuttle service. However, taxis do hang out and around at the hotel for quick easy service. Occasionally, it can be challenging to find Uber or In Drive pickups in the area.
(3.5 out of 5 stars) I rated it a bit low because the staff seemed a bit laid-back on certain matters. There was an incident where the person delivering food to our room was rude to our family. However, since that individual left, we haven’t encountered any further issues, so my rating has improved.
(3.75 out of 5 stars) Housekeeping has left a hair or two in the bed, we get it, it happens. They did put sheets on a bed that had a stain. Despite these minor issues, all the staff we interacted with were cheerful and helpful in resolving the minor issues we had.
(5 out of 5 stars) After reaching out to the manager of Hyatt Place La Paz, our concerns were promptly addressed and handled with a lot of professionalism. He validated our claims and efficiently resolved the issues our family faced, ensuring we were well taken care of as guests.
The on-site restaurant offers a generous breakfast spread with fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, and rotating hot items like potatoes, eggs, and meat. Guests can also enjoy unlimited coffee and tea with this breakfast. The seating area downstairs can get very packed very fast, so we recommend opting for an early breakfast rather than a later one.
The restaurant in the afternoon serves up pizza, burgers, tortilla soup, and of course tacos. The restaurant can deliver to the pool or the room to match your expected dining experience. Of course, this food can be ordered during lunch and dinner hours. Downstairs they also have a glass case of cold drinks and deserts you can buy from.
This resort has a wide variety of gastronomy for you to choose from for whatever kind of food you and your family are in the mood for!

Our top pick is Majagua, known for its skillfully crafted Mexican comfort dishes made with locally sourced ingredients from the Baja region.

This is our go-to dinner spot nearby, coming in as our second favorite. They offer a delightful selection of drinks, appetizers, and sushi rolls that never disappoint. However, the staff can be a little inattentive.
To reach the resort, simply take the dirt golf cart path east from the lobby hotel, passing the parking lot. However, in the summer, watch out for scorpions and snakes along the path at night, especially if you’re with your kids.

In the La Paz Malecon area and throughout the city, you’ll find numerous dining options. Our favorite spots are along the Malecon, offering stunning sunset views.
For the optimal experience, we recommend planning your visit to La Paz during the winter for whale shark season or spring for milder temperatures. By the end of spring, mornings are cool and afternoons are warm, which is the ideal weather for sport fishing.
The slow season in La Paz occurs around August and September when hurricanes and the rainy season begin.
Direct beach access is unavailable at this location. The property overlooks the waterway into the Costa Baja Marina, but there is a small sandy area at the end of the parking lot.
The closest beach is on the Purta Cortez Property and Playa Balandra is a short drive from the hotel.
The nearest spa service is at Hotel Indigo La Paz Puerta Cortés, called Espíritu Spa. They offer a variety of massages and facials for a relaxing day at the spa. So it’s not too far!
The Hyatt Place La Paz does allow pets!
We recommend staying here for larger families. The double queen room with a sofa sleeper comfortably fits 4 adults and 2 smaller children. The pool and breakfast definitely adds value, and many families stay here. The Hyatt is a great budget-friendly option
Hyatt Place is a great, relaxing spot to stay in La Paz, and near many activities for you and your family!
