The Edit: This is an honest Ranavat unboxing of three products from the brand’s saffron line: the Brightening Saffron Face Serum, the Brightening Saffron Essence, and the Brightening Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50+. Ranavat is a luxury skincare and haircare brand inspired by Ayurveda. It was founded by Michelle Ranavat, a first generation Indian American. The brand uses hand harvested saffron from Kashmir, makes its formulas in India, and says every product is vegan and cruelty free. The serum is an oil based face serum that comes in 30 mL and 5 mL sizes. Ranavat says it’s clinically shown to make skin look up to 4 years younger in 30 days, and that real saffron is why it costs what it does. The essence is a milky saffron essence with niacinamide. You use it after cleansing and before serum, and it comes in 100 mL and 30 mL. The sunscreen is a 100% mineral SPF 50+ made with 12.3% non nano zinc oxide, in 20 mL, 50 mL and 100 mL sizes. The brand says it leaves no white cast, and it won an Allure Best of Beauty award. None of the three has synthetic fragrance, and their scent comes from the natural ingredients. What I’m Watching For

Okay, real talk. The last few times I used the Brightening Saffron Essence, I got cystic breakouts, and I almost never get those. Like, once in a blue moon.

It could have been my hormones, so I don’t want to blame the essence too fast. I’m trying it again to see if it’s really the product or just bad timing.
